Charles and Ann Lindbergh

Charles A. Lindbergh

By Sir Ernie Hamilton Boyette

Lindbergh was as much of a philosopher, business analysis, inventor, statesman, archaeologist, sociologist, and ecologist as he was a pioneer aviator. His approach to aviation was completely systematically well planned, logically thought through, cautious to the hazards, and fearless.

Charles was the first pilot to take to the parachute not once but twice to save his life. Many aviators went down with their aircraft like captains of sinking ships fighting the controls. No need to die when you can live to try again. Lindbergh was quick in thought, which saved his life many times in his life.

Below I want to share with you some of the thoughts and acts of Charles A. Lindbergh before I write about his exploits on pioneering aviation achievements. Lindbergh was a genius in our time. Enjoy.

Charles found himself fascinated with medical machines and worked with Dr. Alexis Carrel. Dr. Carrel was born in Lyons, France in 1873. Dr. Carrel was working in America with a major university when Charles met him. Dr. Carrel was the first surgeon to receive the Nobel Prize for his work in a procedure of suturing blood vessels and the transplanting of organs.

When WWII struck Europe Dr. Carrel returned to France and enlisted in the French Medical Corp. While in France he developed with a chemist, Henry D. Dakin a germicidal technique for fighting and treating infected wounds. For this service Carrel was awarded the Cross of the Legion of Honor.

Dr. Carrel believed in the spiritual, metaphysical, and medical approach to healing the body that fascinated Lindbergh.

At the time Lindbergh was a national Hero. As a fact, Charles was considered the first super America Hero. He was bigger than any baseball player or president to that time.

Dr. Carrel was impressed with the overwhelming notoriety poured upon Lindbergh and told Lindbergh of his theory of Heroes. Dr. Carrel told Lindbergh of his belief of the benefits of Heroes. “For the health of society the psychological importance of the Hero is an important role in promoting the optimum growth for the fit.” Dr. Carrel believed that a Hero actually promotes the positive growth of society.

This is so true. A hero actually causes others in society to stand up and go towards their own goals and to be strong in mind, body, and watchful of opportunity to become successful. What more can you ask of anyone and what an honor that you, the Hero, could actually help make a difference that all of society can benefit from.

Lindbergh also developed a pump that helped in the circulation of blood during operations that enabled doctors like Dr. Carrel to carry on long operations that were required for organ transplants and many other operations. Lindbergh’s pump technology is used in every hospital in the world to this day. Isn’t that as important, or even more important than his flying from New York to Paris?

The following are examples of the inner most thoughts of Lindbergh.

“It is not sufficient for people to desire peace. It is necessary to be able to enforce peace, and to do away with the advantages which may be obtained by war.” Lindbergh believed in being “prepared for war”. However he believed in negotiations and exhausting all peaceful reasoning first.

At first Lindbergh was against going to war with Germany. “If we fight our countries will only lose their best men”. Lindbergh was right however it was Hitler that drove his nation into war and its ruin. Yet for these statements many labeled Lindbergh as a traitor. This was not true.

Ann Lindbergh

Ann went with Charles on two of his journeys flying as co-pilot and radio operator.

This is a replica of the Sprit of St. Louis which is on display at the Fantasy of Flight Museum, Polk City, Florida.

I will be doing a print of the "Spirit of St. Louis" in the near future. I am presently looking for an investor who is interested in buying the original painting. I will use the monies I receive from the original painting to publish the print. Along with the painting you will receive 100 prints of the "Spirit of St. Louis". These prints are for you to sale or use as gifts for friends and family members. A painting of the "Spirit of St. Louis" measuring 24x48" will be the commanding point of attention in any room it is displayed in.
