German U-Boats

By Sir Ernie Hamilton Boyette

The German Navy had roughly 820 U-boats in action during World War II. Of these U-boats 718 U-boats were destroyed or surrendered. Manning these vessels was approximately 39,000-trained naval personal. Of these men 32,000 lost their lives performing their duties. Never has any branch of military service of any nation ever suffered such causalities.

The artwork below is not mine but scanned from several U-Boat Books.

Type VII-C

By Sir Ernie Hamilton Boyette

The Type VII-C was developed from the Type VII. The Type VII-C was a medium size ship considered to be very maneuverable, reliable and exceptionally sea worthy. The Type VII proved to be the workhorse of the submarine fleet which caused the most causality to allied shipping.

Over 600 of this type were produced. The ship displaced 760 tons measuring 66.5 meters. It was powered by twin diesels delivering 3,000-horse power. Top speed on the surface was 17 knots and 8 to 9 knots underwater powered by its electric motors. At an economical speed it had an operational range of 9,500 miles, or a distance that would stretch from The North Sea harbors in Northern Europe to the Panama Canal or to Brazil or West Africa and back without refueling.

It had four bow torpedo tubes and one tube located in the rear or stern of the boat. The ship carried on average 14 torpedoes on each war cruse.

The investor will receive the original painting that the print will be published from. You will also receive 200 prints with a retail value of $18.00 each.
