Junkers Ju-188; Story

Junkers Ju-188 was born from the Ju-88 airframe. The crew cabin was improved making it larger and more streamlined. The wings were lengthened and redesigned along with the rudder and tail section. The Ju-188 was equipped with more defensive weapons and gun turret. The bomber was very fast with BMW engines producing speeds over four-hundred miles per hour. Rated as one of the best torpedo bombers of WWII, the Ju-188E-2 was equipped with advanced navigation and radar equipment plus two dependable torpedoes. The G series was rated the best of the production models and saw more missions as a high altitude reconnaissance aircraft with a four man crews. Wilhelm Kriessmann flew thirty-one ferry missions in the Junkers Ju-188’s between May and August of 1944 including CC+LA above.
