I will write here about the Bounty as I have time in the future. Just don't watch the Hollywood movie version. The writers of scripts for historical movies like the Bounty are at best incompetent, ignorant and brutally savage when it comes to accurate historical events. The movie does show the ship beautifully so just turn down the volume so you don't have to listen to the stupid pretend Hollywood script.
The Bounty was a perfect example of shipping of its time. As with many other ships the Bounty lived a short life. The length and shape of the hull was perfect for cargo type vessels. The canvas area by now was perfectly calculated to propel this vessel fairly safely around the world. Cargo ships like the Bounty would be eventually eclipsed by the development of the four mast Gray Hounds of the sea like the Cutty Sark, and Flying Cloud. At the time the Bounty was a very functional vessel.
For the Royal Navy, ships like the Bounty were perfect for fleet service. It was quicker than the Ships of the Line and served easily between the warships transporting foods, supplies and weapons as well as liaison and communication proposes. The Bounty was cost effective in its design and its operation.
The Bounty was a multi-propose cargo ship. Much like the Liberty Ship of its time. The Captains quarters had been turned into a green house with potted plants all over the ship. The Captain during the Bounty's famous voyage stayed in a very, very small cabin. The English Navy promoted trade and needed to be able to protect its trade routs world wide so the ship was somewhat armed. The British government was very active in personal intervention into international trade.
The truth is that the Captain was a great guy and a decorated war veteran of high regard and honor. The crew members that mutinied were not whipped, beaten or abused. Their leader was infact a very unethical criminal whose lecherous woman and child molesting tendencies overcame him. All his acts, the acts of his children, grandchildren as well as great great-grandchildren were simply a repeat over and over of his perverted criminal mind. This enforces my belief that criminals should be sterilized to keep them from having children, thus repeating crime and misery on society in a perpetual circle of human waste. Every man who is a woman and or a child abuser, once recognized, should be neutered completely so they can not continue the cycle of abuse. A criminal being able to breed their own victims is a curse on us all.
However the legal system we have would not support this form of humane device since many in the legal system including judges and elected officials would end up being able to sing a high "C" easily. Too bad, how sad, but true.
Sorry for getting off on that rant, but you can see that I have researched the Bounty, or let's say the true story completely. I just wish I had more time to get it all down for everyone to enjoy it. I wish I could get a financial grant so I would not have to do so many things to earn a living and only being able to write when I can. But please enjoy the many stories I have complete and almost complete in my Web Library below.
Enjoy my art and let me know if you are interested in purchasing the original painting and helping me publish a print of this historic ship. It will also motivate me to finish the story above. The good parts that is.
